Eight peacekeepers of the country received the 'Dag Hammarskjold' medal

The United Nations has awarded the Dag Hammarskjold Medal to eight Bangladeshi peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives while serving in UN peacekeeping operations. The medal was awarded to 129 peacekeepers from 44 countries, including eight from Bangladesh.

As a single country, Bangladesh received the highest number of this award. The medal was received on behalf of Bangladesh by Rabab Fatima, Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
