15th August 1975! Before dawn, bullets rained down on house No. 6 in Dhanmondi.
Bangabandhu's eldest son Sheikh Kamal came down, his chest was bruised by Major Huda's bullets. At 5:40 am, the stun gun in the hands of Huda and Noor roared. Eighteen bullets pierced Bangabandhu's chest and abdomen. The huge man fell down the stairs. Bangabandhu was then dead. The stairs floated in the blood of his chest. The stream of blood continues to descend the stairs.
The mission of the assassins was not over then, Aziz Pasha and Musle Uddin went to the bedroom and shot Bangabandhu's wife Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, Sheikh Jamal, Sheikh Kamal's wife Sultana Kamal, Jamal's wife Rosie Jamal in a stan song. Before his death, Panituku did not join Bangabandhu's brother Sheikh Nasser.
Bangabandhu's youngest son Sheikh Russell was not spared from death either. After killing all the members of Bangabandhu's family and showing their bodies, Russell was killed.
Nature has probably never seen such betrayal again. By defeating Bangabandhu, the defeated power of 1971 wanted to kill Bangladesh. He wanted to erase the country gained through the liberation war from the map of the world. On that day the assassins killed the mortal body of the father, but his immortal consciousness and ideal are mortal. The assassin could not destroy the existence of that great hero of history.
In the words of the poet- ‘Cry, people of Bengal, cry / If you are a Bengali, come closer in silence, come closer / ... Here lies the eternal light in the stars / Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.’
